Application Guide:

Preparation

Old paint finishes should be removed if flaking at all and the surface should be sanded to create a texture (also known as a mechanical key) prior to applying Resincoat Single Garage Floor Paint Bundle. When preparing for a floor coat, doing so mechanically (shot-blasting or grinding) is always advisable for best results, but if that is not possible then sanding the area or our Etch and Clean is a good alternative. After the surface has been completely abraded, thoroughly sweep and vacuum the area of any remaining dust or contaminants. For more information on preparation, please see technical data sheet.

Please note: Etch and Clean is only suitable for use on bare concrete.

Priming

For new concrete floors or floors in good condition, prime with Resincoat Damp Tolerant Primer

For dusty, old or weaker floors prime with Resincoat Deep Penetrating Primer

For greasy floors with heavy oil residue clean thoroughly using a suitable degreaser scraping off any dust or dirt and then prime with Resincoat Oil Tolerant Primer

Application

We advise when applying this product the ambient temperature is at least 7°C.

1. Mix Part A on its own with a mixing paddle attached to an electric drill for about 1 minute before adding ALL of Part B and continue to mix for another 90 seconds, keeping the paddle in suspension to avoid mixing air into the unit.

2. Pour entirety of the tin's contents into a plastic paint scuttle or tray.

3. Immediately begin applying your paint with a nylon-bonded resin suitable roller.

4. Use a brush around the edges to cut in (a second pair of hands can be useful for this stage).

5. As soon as the first coat has started curing (is no longer tacky to touch) you can re-coat; this should take 12-24 hours.

6. The cured final coat is ok for foot traffic. Cars and heavy objects, however, should be left off the new coating for the first 48 hours and chemicals including water should not be introduced for the first 7 days (Full chemical cure).

PLEASE NOTE: The pot life of this product is 20 minutes. This means that once parts have been mixed, the paint will start to chemically cure after this time. Ensure you remove the paint from the tin in this window. The paint will then be workable on your floor for up to 40 minutes.

Pot life = Time to harden in pot following addition of hardener

Working Time = Time to apply product before it becomes unworkable

Useful Information

Roller sleeves should be used once per coat, two coats will require two roller sleeves.

This product is NOT UV stable therefore can discolour when exposed to regular sunlight. For areas with plenty of repeated sunlight, please coat with a coloured UVR coating such as Resincoat Chemical Resistant UVR Floor Coating for a UV stable finish.

This product should NOT be split. Taking smaller quantities from each tin, even if measured correctly, may cause issues with activating.

This product is NOT self levelling.

If you require a clear epoxy coating visit our clear epoxy product here.

Please note: all Resincoat Bundles are sold as complete sets, individual units may not be returned or refunded.

Great product.

Bought the large single garage (20m2) kit to do a 17m2 garage.
Coverage is probably about right if you have a smooth or screeded floor. Mine was a bit rough, but still has enough with a little bit left over. For my garage you definitely needed a second pair of hands to get the cutting in done and painted in sub 30 mins.
I added a polyester pigment to mine to get a custom colour at 5% ratio to the mix and it cured fine.

Mr

Single garage 18ft by8ft. Swept and hoovered the floor. Left no loose bits. The kit includes everything except a long handle for the roller, so get yourself a wooden broom handle (and a battery drill for mixing-kit comes with the mixer attachment)
Couldn't find anywhere on the instructions how long to leave the primer to cure before putting on the topcoat. Found out its the same as the top coat, so 12-24 hours between coats. Anyway, mixed the primer, cut in pretty fast as didn't need to be mindful of the wall but didn't get much on the wall anyway. My garage floor is reasonably flat and not crumbly at all, with the odd pit or stone poking out a little. Once I got 3/4 done with the primer I realised I was running out and not going to cover the entire floor if I continued trying to ensure every small recess was covered. So spread it on thinly to the point it wasn't properly covering an entire layer kinda thing. The primer was reasonably runny too.

Waited for that to cure and started first thing next morning with topcoat.
Includes 2 tins (and 2 additive tins) which I'd been told was one each for 1 layer (2 layers of topcoat). So, got mixing and this stuff was less viscous than the primer. I knew I wasn't going to make the coverage of the entire floor with just one tin of this stuff... But continued. Started spreading it (don't use the roller toooo hard or the aluminium roller holder bends then the roller won't roll freely. Found that out with the primer when trying to spread thi ly to make it last.) and got about 3/5ths the way through and had just about ran out! So had to mix up the second tin straight away and get on it. My main priority was the front of garage where my bike sits as the turning on the spot of front wheel was wearing rhe concrete away so needed the best part at the front. Spread a little more on the bit I'd already done as I wasn't going to be able to go over it again properly, then focused on the remaining front 2/5ths. It worked out and covered IT. The finish is really good. It cures solid and makes such a difference to working on your car laying down on. Have had axle stands on it and it's not chipped or cracked or peeled off. Preperarion of the surface is literally key. Do your prep work properly and it'll pay you back well.

My only negative is this pack could do with a little more of the primer and topcoat mixtures. I feel the mixture Is literally suitable to cover their stated surface area if your garage floor is as smooth as a bathroom tile kinda thing. Otherwise, ensure you're putting it on thinly or expect to use both topcoat tins in one go. Reeeealllly wanting to give this 5 stars but that's literally the only thing stopping me from doing so.

DIY kit

Paint was delivered next day and was easy to do with the instructions provided. The key is definitely to prepare the floor first, there are lots of videos on youtube which I found helpful. Great product, nice staff

Very Happy

I ordered the single garage bundle, plus the cutting in pack and tools. Our garage/house is 3 years old and the garage has constantly been shedding concrete dust, getting footprints everywhere whenever somebody uses the garage. All solved now thanks to this and it looks fantastic.
The primer coat layer bubbled up a bit - but the next day before adding the 1st finishing coat, I went and trampled all over it to pop them, and then sanded down any leftover bubble bits. This made a good base for the finishing layers to go on to.
My advice is don't skimp (the less favourable reviews seem to be from individuals who have tried to cut costs by only doing one coat, or missing out the primer or some other example of basically not following the recommendations) buy the bundle and the cutting in pack - if you think you can get all the cutting in done and the rolling done from the same tin before it hardens off and becomes unworkable then you are going to regret it. Also, accept the fact that you are going to need to repaint your skirting board or bottoms of your walls afterwards - as there isn't enough time to spend doing it neat before the resin is ruined, you just have to slap it on and put your back in to it to get it to spread thinly across the concrete. You definitely feel like you've done a good graft when you've finished - I'd compare it to doing 2 sessions in the gym one after the other. If you're an amateur with an office job like me and not conditioned to doing this type of labour regularly, then your legs, arms, back and shoulders are all going to feel it the next day, but it is definitely worth it.
